Plugin activation issues

If the plugin has been successfully installed but its functionality is not working correctly, first make sure that the plugin is activated.

Then check:

  1. Plugin settings.
  2. WordPress version.
  3. PHP version.
  4. Plugin requirements.
  5. Theme compatibility.
  6. Other installed plugins.
  7. Browser console or WordPress error messages.

If the issue started immediately after installing another plugin, there may be a plugin conflict.

You can temporarily deactivate other plugins to identify whether another plugin is causing the problem.

Plugin Compatibility

Before installing a plugin on a production website, always check its compatibility requirements.

Important compatibility information can include:

WordPress Version
The minimum and recommended WordPress version supported by the plugin.

PHP Version
The minimum PHP version required to run the plugin.

Theme Compatibility
Some plugin features may depend on the theme or page builder being used.

Other Plugin Compatibility
Some plugins may require specific plugins or integrations to work correctly.

Updating an Installed Plugin

Keeping plugins updated is important for security, compatibility, bug fixes, and new features.

To update a plugin manually:

  1. Download the latest plugin version.
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  3. Click Upload Plugin.
  4. Select the new ZIP file.
  5. Install the updated version.
  6. Follow the WordPress instructions to complete the update.

If automatic updates are available, you may also enable them from the Installed Plugins page.

Before performing a major plugin update, we recommend creating a backup of your website.

What Happens to My Plugin Settings After an Update?

In most cases, updating a plugin does not remove your existing plugin settings.

However, this can depend on how the plugin is developed and how the update handles its database and configuration data.

For this reason, it is always recommended to maintain a recent backup before performing major updates.

Can I Install Multiple Plugins?

Yes. WordPress allows you to install multiple plugins on the same website.

However, installing too many plugins is not recommended without a reason.

Every plugin can add additional functionality and resources to your website. You should only install plugins that are necessary for your website.

Also make sure that your plugins are regularly updated and compatible with your WordPress environment.

Can I Install a Free and Premium Version Together?

This depends on the specific plugin.

Some plugins provide a free version and a separate premium extension, while others use a different licensing structure.

Installing two versions of the same plugin at the same time may cause conflicts if the plugin is not designed to support this setup.

Always follow the installation instructions provided with the specific plugin.

Best Practices Before Installing Plugins

For a safe and reliable WordPress installation process, we recommend following these best practices:

Keep a Backup

Create a complete website backup before installing or updating important plugins.

Check Requirements

Review the plugin’s WordPress and PHP requirements before installation.

Download From a Trusted Source

Always download plugins from the official plugin source or a trusted provider.

Keep Plugins Updated

Regular updates help maintain compatibility, security, and functionality.

Remove Unused Plugins

If you no longer need a plugin, deactivate and remove it instead of leaving unused plugins installed.

Test Major Changes

For important websites, test new plugins in a staging environment before installing them on the live website.
